Anil Gupta is an Indian scholar who wanted to use intellectual property to create social justice and empower the poor. So in 1988 he created the Honey Bee Network, a knowledge-sharing database, to ensure that grassroots inventors could benefit from the economy. Our hosts Lee Davies and Gwilyn Roberts talk to Prof Gupta about his philosophy of “sharing and caring” and how his model of ethical knowledge extraction and of IP rights being respected but not generally enforced, works in practice.
