We asked some of our staff to take some time to research an issue that is part of the EDI Community, or discuss with someone they know their personal experiences. In both instances we asked our volunteers to step outside of their comfort zone or own familiarities. We then asked them to share with us what they had learnt so we could keep the chain reaction of inclusive learning going.
We made three short videos and posted them on our social media throughout the week.
Lee Davies, our Chief Executive, spoke to his daughter’s boyfriend about his experiences growing up with severe colour-blindness and what impact that had on his day-to-day life.
Kathryn Espino, one of our Events Coordinators, spoke to a friend from University about their personal experiences transitioning and living as a transgender woman.
Neil Lampert, our Deputy Chief Executive, shared a conversation he had with a family member about the prolonged gender discrimination in the workplace she had suffered.
Finally, our Admin Generalist Kereiss Isles spoke about her own personal research into ‘Invisible Disabilities’ – what it means and the challenges those that live with them face in life.
