We have a number of active assignments for Patent Attorneys considering a move at Partner level. At present we have Partner level projects with three different firms particularly in electronics and engineering but also in biotechnology. All three firms are focused on growth but are realistic on what will be achievable – they’re not looking for a quick fix but a long-term relationship that helps them build their practices.
A client following is important but in most cases with caveated flexibility. For example, if you have a tough restrictive covenant and are therefore uncertain of how quickly any clients might follow then as long as you have a demonstrable business development track record that could be accommodated. Or perhaps you are nervous of overpromising and underdelivering? – We and then the firms will work with you to determine what reasonable and sensible goals are, so that any targets are also reasonable and sensible.
There is no upper limit on the level of the lateral hire, you could be an existing equity partner, salaried partner or perhaps a senior associate with clients of your own. Given the firms involved in these projects we have opportunities in most major UK cities. We appreciate that moving a client base or moving at all when you have reached partnership in your current firm can be daunting.
